School fit
Is BCA a fit?
- The school
- BCA offers seven specialized programs in the areas of Science & Technology, Business & Finance, Culinary Arts & Hospitality Administration, Engineering & Design Technology, Medical Science Technology, Technology & Computer Science and Visual & Performing Arts.
- The academies
- The district lists these academies: Academy for the Advancement of Science and Technology (AAST), Academy for Business and Finance (ABF), Academy for Culinary Arts and Hospitality Administration (ACAHA), Academy for Medical Science Technology (AMST), Academy for Engineering Design Technology (AEDT), Academy for Technology and Computer Science (ATCS), and the Academy for Visual and Performing Arts (AVPA) in music, visual arts and theatre.
- Extended School Day
- BCA describes its acceptance rate as highly competitive and says it looks for families fully committed to the Extended School Day.
- Outside commitments
- BCA asks families with heavy outside commitments, especially ones that conflict with the Extended School Day, to think carefully about whether the program is the right fit.
- Music applicants
- Music applicants need more than the standard application. BCA says admission to the music program requires both the standard BCA application process and a successful music audition.
- Seats
- Depending on the number of applications and the strength of the pool, the number of classes per academy ranges from 1 to 3, with 20 to 22 seats per class.
- Transportation and tuition
- Transportation is provided by the sending district, which also pays the tuition of the accepted student.
- Tours
- BCA says its tours have concluded for this cycle.
